What began as mindless scrolling has turned into a productive way to publicize events.
At Sam Houston State University campus, it is often flooded with sandwich boards and outdoor signage. However, the way students become informed about upcoming events is digital. I conducted a poll in which I asked students if they had heard about last week's showing "Carrie The Musical", held by the department of Musical Theater.
The outcome of the poll exceeded my expectations due to the amount of non-CAM (or most commonly known as college of arts and media) majors knowing about the showing. Out of the 22 students that took the poll only five students were CAM majors. Having this said I had a follow up question, "How did you find out about the showing." With over half of the students responded with social media as their answer.
With social media growing as a platform, it cast a shadow on flyers. This statement shows how the department of Theater and Musical Theater have taken advantages over the mindless scrolling on social media for good use. With local news digital spreading, the upcoming events lead the growth of a great College.
